The Autopian

"You have to know those who will become your customers before you begin to build your company of membership" is the premise of Matt Hardigree the publisher of The Autopian. "I had issues that I solved because people believed there existed an audience. It's not easy to do math, but it's also not complicated. Math can be accomplished by using the knowledge you have."

If you're writing for internet look at the amount of readers. "If I'm writing on the same platform as others 10 authors and three members are trying to come up with something, what's the most commonality among us? Do we represent 15 % of the platform's members? This isn't a huge amount. We are responsible for about more than 80 percent of the traffic on the website?"

Sometime in the past, The Autopian founders David Tracy and Jason Torchinsky made up 50 percent of Jalopnik traffic. "They may have been thinking "We could be able to create something, and it's feasible"," continues Matt. "What's intriguing is David and Jason don't have large following on social media, that is thought to be the best way to convert them into readers. The two didn't need to achieve this since they already had followers.

The Autopian

Just a few days prior to its launch The Autopian did a review of competition, both within the auto industry and in the media. "We are aware of the number of car fans that use these websites. Do the math: once you've figured out the price, the next thing to consider is how much do we anticipate to be able to accomplish? It is important to be aware of the people come from? What percentage of them are conscious of who we are? What is the percentage we are required for to raise to ensure the survival of our organization? What proportion are they aware of? Also, in terms of costs for membership, what's the most likely amount to spend? ? '."

And he adds: "You can make some assumption, but you're not legally required to support the assumptions. You must be aware of the facts. When you've got started, you'll be able to use the data to determine the areas that are off and adjust. If there's no information or guesswork involved, then you'll have to do the math to figure the reason for your absence.

Matt states that when you're engaged in your work, you'll be able to enjoy"in-mind" moment "in mind" moment "In the beginning of my thirty minute of joining, I was absolutely lost! I was thinking, "What's going to occur? The moment the team members began arriving, I was feeling great! Also, we're conducting analysis of data, and continuously looking at what's the most efficient, and not so much."

Strategies to improve involvement and growth

"I think we're about 10% of the people our members can become," Matt continues. "We've had success, in addition to having a large number of members. The 10 percent with the most recognition of members is the easiest to get. Other members will be the toughest. Each phase will be harder than the previous one. it. Then it will be possible to settle the issue."

Matt states that a growth rate of 10x within the next 5 years is a goal. "If we reach half of our goals, it's likely that we'll be nearly completely dependent upon our members. If we can achieve 100%, then we'll depend on our members more, or earning money from membership itself. I'd like to get to the same point."

Matt Hardigree, The Autopian

What is their method of reaching their targets? What do they provide members with incentives? And what can they do to leverage this to attract new members?

Matt answers: "It's a balance because The Autopian is a journalism initiative, but it's also an event driven by enthusiastic individuals. The Autopian is like having three buckets which assist people when they sign-up and keep members in the fold by aiding in making The Autopian feel valued."

Strategy 1: Content

Matt states Matt says that Autopian is the largest category of content. Autopian is the main type of content, and it is the primary category. "We have to find something appealing enough appealing, interesting and unique when compared to the material available elsewhere, and that it's only accessible via the Autopian. You have to be part of The Autopian if I want to use the Autopian for this.'

The Autopian

"You're not paying anything for access to this information because there's no paywalled accessibility to this content. It's best to obtain it wherever." Matt says that content is most valuable value of Autopian "You require this item to become a part of your daily life, and you'll pay four dollars a month, and 10 dollars a month, which is about $85 per month for certain individuals."

Strategies 2 and Benefits

Bucket 2 shows the benefits which members receive for no cost, such as Discord access, clothes like T-shirts, invitations events such as trivia nights as well as items such as badges and stickers.

"We offer a wide range of items to pick from similar to buying a car. Cloth is the cheapest ($70/year) and then vinyl ($100/year) and then Velour which is $250 per year The most expensive price is Corinthian leather, which costs upwards of 1000 dollars a year. It is more common to find customers using velour and leather than I could ever imagine!"

"One gift you'll receive is a birthday present. Co-founder of the company is an accomplished artist. We weren't expecting to receive numerous sketches. He's actually done many birthday cards more than we expected he would and now we're getting caught up!"

A cost per year of $1000 is quite a lot but it's the idea behind Defector that has been a long-standing company in the field of media Defector. They informed Matt that they had a lot more clients at the price of $1000 than they anticipated. "I thought"I didn't consider it. $1,000? They replied"Do this!"" Matt is having a great time.

"They have also said they wish they could have an intermediate level, since they're in two stages lower than the previous." Dr. X adds. "We debated on it and came to an agreement of $250 per year. This was the cheapest amount due to the fact that Velour is a large membership group. This year, we saw an increase in the number of members moving up from vinyl to velour, before moving back down returning to vinyl following velour. Actually, more people moved between 100 and 250 instead of 100 or 250. It's a sign that I think we're heading in the right direction!"

The Autopian

Autopian's Autopian team also has realized that the content produced behind the scenes has become increasingly popular. They give procedural info like how they got to the headline, and also "Tales Of Slack". Matt says: "We have our internal Slack. It's not intended for consumption by anybody else."

"People typically conjure up ridiculous humorous, absurd and hilarious things!" Matt is having a great time. "Our chief editor David doesn't have a pop-culture awareness and has a constant confusion. He believed that Ronan was in fact Serpico. He believed that Ronan was an Al Pacino film set in the 70s was an Robert de Niro movie from in the 1990s!"

Strategy 3. Fear of Losing Out (FOMO)

"The third kind of content that's extremely efficient and that people tend to miss is FOMO. We wouldn't want anyone to be missing the opportunities," Matt continues.

"We are active on Discord frequently with articles of tips and information. Our chatroom is completely free and available, but there is a special area specifically designed for members" the member says. "I am looking for users to post images in the chatroom  saying 'Here's me with my badge, and I'm extremely proud of the badge that I'm wearing'. I would like to see people wanting to join in and be part of us on this."

Matt states that the method to attract members is very effectively when the message you send is similar to the content you share. "Every each time we send out a 'Here's everything you'll receive appeal. This will remind members of the advantages they receive upon signing up."

The Autopian

As time goes on, they'll appreciate more their communities "We appreciate taking part. We're stronger thanks to your involvement. If you're not a regular participant, we're content by the fact that you're not. There are some who do not have the funds to attend. If you're in a similar situation students are in regardless of the circumstances, it is not a secret of which we are aware. If you're in the situation that you're able to afford the cost, think about considering. We'd like to welcome guests as our guests and hope to have become part of our community. If you're passionate about this kind of thing, we'd be delighted to provide you with the chance to be a member of our family."

We'll then do the FOMO blog post in which Jason will share a post entitled 'Here's my whole birthday-themed drawing I did in July! viewers will be thinking "God! I'd love to do this.'

It's evident that communities come in a vast array of sizes and designs. They include birthday parties to those who are passionate about cars.
