Three entrepreneurs who wish they knew the basic principles from the beginning

Oct 8, 2023

What could experts have learned prior to starting their own businesses? They had learned by the process of trial and error, therefore there's no need to.

This material was made using a previous Year's Think On Color. You are able to join our mailing list to be informed of new replays that are available!

Here are a few things which our event's three panelists want to master prior to starting their own businesses. They learned it by doing it the hard method to ensure that they do not have to.

Create a foundation by creating a "signature deal"

"Go full-time on your signature deal (aka your most popular course)! In the beginning, I stretched myself to the limit trying to market multiple classes, online items along with various bundles of services. I felt frightened, overwhelmed and struggling to achieve the goals I had set for myself in terms of revenue. I was wary of switching on one-off deals since it didn't make sense to me that one transaction would yield better results. The assumption was flawed which kept me from achieving my goal.

Once I created my own signature product, sales increased dramatically, and I took my business from being a modest business to six figures within a year. Today, I'm able provide a variety of products. But the reason I'm able to do this is thanks to my solid foundation with my signature offering ."

Focus only on the present and continue to make plans to grow in the future.

"What I've learned from selling online courses and other digital merchandise is that you're constantly expanding your customer base, particularly if you're making use of advertising. Each of them has strengths and weaknesses, but increasing your reach 24/7 is key. It is essential to continue growing and follow-up methods to maintain that online relationship. But, it is essential to ensure that the program is suitable to the kind of individuals you'd like to establish a connection with.

In retrospect, on the very first day I could have mapped the long-term and immediate goals rather than looking at quarterly revenue. It's important to consider the future and decide where you'd like to put your money into infrastructure, and also to establish organic traffic. So that you can ensure you're growing your business by allowing to have more flexibility and room. When you make investments in both (short-term and long-term) it will allow you to expand your business and build upon the foundation you have since day one ."

Focus on ways you can increase the value of your clients. But, recognize your worth.

"I want to be aware that the route I choose to be successful as a business owner will not be like the of other entrepreneurs. Through selling my courses I've learned my knowledge is essential as well as that my customers are likely to buy the courses I've learned, even if I can't ever be fully aware of the advantages. The first day of my course I'd advise me: concentrate on generating an attractive value proposition, a premium pricing structure and establishing a solid plan of sales for my courses. The creation of the course is only one of the challenges but marketing and selling the course are equally important!

The most costly mistake I've made was to pack the TON of information into a course and adding a very low cost to it. Two ways to advertise my course online. (1) I provide free online classes that are small in size that assist my students to reach their objectives, and (2) Additionally, I provide high-quality training to help my students achieve the most effective results and offer complete instruction."
