A book illustrator, Soosh, talks about her fairytale illustrations.
While I was looking up Soosh to write this piece correctly, I discovered her YouTube videos. If you've watched her work, you'll notice it's as if a magical fairytale was reborn. With her voice into the shape of stories, she can make the whole experience a complete and enchanting one in which her fairytale characters come to life. Keep reading but make sure you stop by on her YouTube channel to sip some hot tea. Get ready for a pretty special fairytale evening.
We spoke to Soosh what she believes is the most important thing for capturing those small moments of everyday life in her work.
"Hello, I'm Soosh. I was born and raised by people. I do not identify myself with any religious, ethnic, or national background or other. I spend my time observing people and myself and analyzing the details of everything. This is a difficult path. I haven't chosen it deliberately and yet I'm in the path. In terms of the traditional art school, I have none whatsoever.

Although I am aware that there are various styles of painting and drawing that can be described as styles, I've never really given any thought to the kind of style my drawings would qualify as. If I were for the right words for it, it would be something like a "fairytale realist" type of style. But speaking frankly, no style.
The key, as I understand it is to look with your heart as much as with your eyes. It may take some practice to pay attention to the smallest of things, like with every other skill. The trick is to remain quiet for some time and completely present in the moment. Be attentive. Be attentive, and not hurry.
My main obsession has always been with people. Their expressions on their faces, their mimics of their actions, their gestures actions of kindness and their weaknesses - all of it's fascinating and intriguing to me. After that, it's the matter of a couple of pencils and a few watercolours to get into and bring life to these everyday pictures in a paper."
