We inquired with Titika about the key to the mysterious photos in black and white.

"My Name is Titika Rotkjaer. I'm an artist hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark. Following my studies in communication in Roskilde University, Denmark, I relocated to Norway to study visual art initially in the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, later in Bergen in Bergen, where I concluded my studies in visual art in the Bergen Academy of Art and Design and earned an MA in Textile Art. I do not have formal instruction in photography. My understanding of editing and photography comes through continuous self-education.

Do you want to know about my style? Would I like to discuss style rather than style? I don't think of style... In telling stories from an artistic and personal viewpoint Each image is a result of my work intensively in determining mood, expression and the ambience. Making my pictures appear is an ongoing process. My goal is always to improve and improve the clarity of the image. In some instances, I redo old photographs in the event that I acquire new information that enables me to come closer to the expression I had in mind.

What is the secret to my mysterious photographs ...? In most of my images - made over the last four years - I've been looking at the complexity and self-awareness with a special interest in the connection between both the outer and inner worlds. Some of my photographs however, not all are constructed digitally of several photographs (all obviously taken by myself).

My process typically starts with an intrigue or interest in exploring a topic or a complex of emotions. I take pictures, make notes, and then read for more knowledge, and shoot again. The process of working with my images frequently inspires me to make an original image out of many others. I work experimentally, subjectively as well as intuitively with the subject matter to let my images develop. I don't have a clear vision of the final product to my eye, and I then photograph the elements that build it."
