When I'm free I love to complete 30-minute-hour research or other explorations in which I can do whatever feel like that day. It has helped me grow, but it also made me realize which things I enjoyed.

Today, I am able to pay attention to the color of light and also how to describe the textures with a clear way so I don't have to be too detailed in every aspect. I usually keep my shapes very close to the real world However, as time goes on, I'm hoping to push shapes more and also be more stylized in my work.

When I start a painting, generally speaking, I like laying out my main shapes at first, whether in BW or just straight with colors. When I believe it's important first, I begin with linework first. Once I have a good basis, I will map on the light and shadow shapes on separate layers. Not until then do I create or render the image in a variety of ways, from huge to small details.

For Streets of London painting I employed a similar method. To ensure neat edges and keep everything well-organized, I employed a large number of layers. Additionally, I had the main light layer on a separate layer.

The layers make me feel less anxious about making mistakes, but once I'm happy with the stage I'm in with the painting I start merging a few elements, but only keeping the things I consider important.

Colours for me are very much a "feel" thing, I just go for those that feel right. Also, I have a number of reference sources which I use to help me get the correct colours. Sometimes I mix references and other times I use mainly one.

It's definitely a good idea to learn about the theory of light and colour, to know the limits you can do to make your overall colour palette and values stronger.

It's a bit difficult for me to define what the secret to creating my art is... I simply like exploring various styles, media and subject matters and get inspired by others artists.

I'm only a few months into my art journey and am very much still trying to discover my identity as an artist and what my style is. One of the main differences these days is I don't have to think about it nearly as much as I used to , and I think that's making an enormous difference.

My Personal Background

My name is Bjork who is a visual artist. I'm currently working as a Concept artist for games.

I am from a tiny country that is known as the Faroe Islands and have always been creative in some form whether it was through storytelling or drawing or whatever. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in CG arts at The Animation workshop in Viborg, Denmark, in 2019 and began my first position in London later that year.

Nowadays, I'm mainly employed as a concept artist at Envar Studios but also do occasionally freelance work.

In general, I'm more than active in Twitter than on Instagram. If anyone would like to buy prints I sell prints on Instagram.
