Do AI let the creative potential of humans? Perspectives of film makers and the Vice President of Creative

Sep 17, 2023

The fact is that AI won't go away.

While there is a debate over the possibility that AI could replace writers, editors, and concept art directors a majority of them agree that AI is inevitable and are now considering the possibility of changing the method by which the work process is carried out. In Cannes I heard a range of views from famous artists like will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame discuss how AI will change the way individuals live over the next 10 years. Most of the discussions were about how AI is rapidly unlocking individuals' hidden talents, and the impacts on creativity.

In my role as the artistic director for the last twenty years I wanted to express my opinion and use this as an opportunity for interaction with the people in our community.

What's the current state of play? What can we do to move on to the next step?

This is what AI can accomplish in the present.

"I was magician before I was a film maker. When you're a professional magician, you'll discover that the most advanced technology can't be distinguished from the magic. Magic can make you nervous if unclear about the method it operates or what the procedure is. It's the way I'm feeling concerning AI as an art form, or someone who earns money from sending something you've thought of on your mind onto the television or screen. AI is a scary issue because it can be able to take over your work." Ben Proudfoot, Oscar-winning short Doc director. named the CEO of Breakwater Studios

Humans have a natural talent for creativity. It's a trait which artificial intelligence hasn't been able to reproduce.
Midjourney was announced in July 2022. ChatGPT was introduced in November of in the same year. It has been reported that self-described "non-creatives" have the ability to unleash their creativity but have not been utilized due to their lack of expertise.

The creations of some of them are impressive and the tools are evolving at such a rapid rate that you'll excused for forgetting that they're barely one year older.

AI can help you to share your thoughts

Nuanced concepts in films and stories, images or even music are limited by the methods and abilities required to bring these ideas into reality.

The past year has shown that the possibility of creating such pictures is now possible to create with just the assistance of a few keys:

Midjourney 5.2 is the latest version of AI images.

Just 48 hours later and the crowd has already exceeded their limits.

We know so far:

With a long-standing experience, such as Oscar-winning filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili, chances are higher.

Have a look at the AI-generated film " Last Stand," which depicts how people would respond if aliens came in contact.

"AI can make us look at things in ways have never been thought of before," says Crystal Edmonds who heads events and accounts Activation at Magnet Media Films. "I believe that it'll cause us to think. We're going to learn something you'd never thought to understand. It is likely that humans can attain a new degree of creativity through AI."

In this case, Staff Pick winner Paul Trillo's short film "Thank You for Not Answering."

Instead of trying to achieve realism the designer deliberately aims towards a dreamlike look that is the norm for Runway's Gen-2. "As an individual, he conveys a message to another person from his history and becomes overwhelmed by the bits of memories that have lost and imagining a possibilities of the future."

Artist who has adjusted to the strengths and weaknesses of his medium in order to create something distinctive.

AI helps you to validate concepts and sell them later.

Make no mistake, while these are stunning examples of the way AI can be used to communicate the artistic view, AI for commercial use is presently just a technique.

Have a look at this artificially-generated beer commercial. This is a product from its time and could not be considered an official advertisement even if they are you consider it to be a valid commercial.

It provides a lot of detail that can convey the idea to executives much better than any mood board or elevator pitch will ever achieve.

With generative AI, it is not necessary to count on your words to make attractive images which appeal to 10 or more individuals. In reality, it's possible to utilize an explicit prompt to create the perfect sizzle movie along with animatics as well as visualizations to help people to believe into a vision.

What is that adverbial meaning to the creatives of today?

Begin to learn how to develop an efficient AI-related request. AI.

"I believe that the next generation of employees can master the technology at our disposal and start to use artificial intelligence which is generative both visually and in written form," says Orlando Baeza the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer for Flock Freight. "I think there's a lot of growth potential in this area, however it's going to require upskilling the existing workforce and ensure that the next generation of employees are able to improve in the future."

AI can save valuable production time

Making videos nowadays takes generally between two and three weeks for the creation process from beginning to completion Yet, AI has sped this process, allowing for filmmakers to make more decision-making and allowing producers to complete tasks that require concentrated work.

"I think that one of the major issues facing filmmaking is the expense of making films. There is a very high threshold to entry into films and one of the advantages of this process is that it makes filmmaking more affordable to all," continues Baeza. "So are you thinking that AI or machine-learning will help people with less funds to make films that reach a large public, that's definitely an opportunity worth being grateful for, doesn't it?"

AI has already made the process of making videos simpler by automating tasks including the editing of transcriptions, personalization and the planning. In particular the removal of objects from the video's background was a laborious process which took quite a while and only required Generative Fill. Generative Fill software.

"I believe that organizations will be seeing AI in the coming years because efficiency and productivity increase," says Baeza. "I think that AI is going to become a valuable partner and will likely eventually be part of the most creative companies."

Let's look at what AI cannot assist you with.

AI isn't going to help you make you viral.

Machine learning works by analysing previous data, and then analysing the patterns it previously consumed. For instance machine learning, or the generative AI program could produce the most beautiful image of a blue cup, from the countless pictures it's made from blue cup images.

It's not about replicating past achievements, rather it's about looking at the problem from an original perspective, or putting an innovative spin to old ideas and creating connections that nobody before has. The way Steve Jobs famously said:

"Some people believe that you should give your customers what they want, but that's not how I do business. It is our job to figure out what clients will require before they grant the clients. I'm convinced the fact that Henry Ford once said, "If I'd asked my clients what they'd like to see, I'd have received more speedy horses. The majority of them don't even realize the objects they'd like until they demonstrate it to them. It is our job to look for items that aren't yet made of paper." Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple

Creativity is the result of art and science and AI is really adept at the science portion of the equation.

There are a few common and repeatable practices that which we use during our activities along with some which AI can duplicate, like the principle of threes as well as the use of large fonts when promoting the sale. But, AI isn't able to remain forward-looking. It can't detect virality or offer an original, fresh perspective that clients will appreciate.

If you're an artist, this is great news. Make your own concepts that you can then use AI to assist in bringing the concepts into reality.

AI is unable to replicate the originality process.

One of the best advantages of creativity is that -no no matter how accurate your ideas are, the concept will become a reality on its own once it's constructed. Anyone who comes into contact with the idea will bring their unique perspective and vision towards the concept. And the result is something you wouldn't have anticipated.

A film editor in the industry I worked with once stated "You may have shot your storyboard, but the storyboard is of nothing to offer now, and I'm planning to make use of what I've got." If the film was shot exactly as you had planned in the storyboard, then a film editor may highlight particular elements or alter things in a way that differed from the original concept.

In the present I'm still unable to come up with a method to make use of AI to emulate the process of creativity using this method.

AI can't give an artistic view, it can add to the creative process the same way that individual filmmakers or videographers. And so, even if AI could be utilized to aid in the creation process -- in an effort to improve the speed of coming up with ideas or making changes, humans still participate in the creation process itself.

Keep your eyes peeled

It is known that AI can increase our ability to share our ideas and also act as a trigger that will allow the new generation of designers to become able with capabilities that can't have been imagined. If I were to record this moment with a word that defines the experience, it would evoke one of excitement that is unlike anything else before for longer We're now looking at the future.

Actually, I'm an one with just a few collections of ideas and thoughts. We must keep exploring possibilities with an open mind, maintain an open-minded mind and participate in an open discussion.

If you're interested, which side do you take? What's your preferred method of making use of AI today, and how do you believe it will bring the industry?
