Fantasy illustration The CreativeMindClass Blog

How would you describe the style you prefer?

It's somewhere between stylized and real-life fantasy illustrations. I tend to use muted and aquatic color palettes and tend to work with natural, fluid shapes. I believe that my "style" as an illustration artist is heavily dictated by my colors and the subject matter I choose to draw but not always the way the painting is done. I previously worked using a much more straight-line style , but recently I've moved to a looser and more painterly style.

What is the key in creating your drawings of fantasy art?

Sweating over them until it looks closest to the way I envision it in my head (within the reason that I don't want to be able to spend months working on one painting). It's my goal to push my shapes to the limit and never settle for an unsatisfactory image. I'd prefer to take a long amount of time trying to get my dreamy illustration perfect instead of rushing through it.

Where can people see your fantasies?

I'll be a part of the coming "Oceans and Currents" exhibit in Gallery Nucleus during July! In the meantime, you can find me through Instagram. Prints are available for sale through my store Bandcamp for those who are curious!

Also, I have a Youtube and Bandcamp for people who want to know more about my music since I'll be releasing more songs very shortly.

Brigitte's Background

I graduated from my school, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I work currently in the entertainment art industry as conceptual artist and illustrator. Also, I have a ongoing innovative project named Pearl Farm, for which I draw drawings. I write, as well as perform original songs.

The illustrations for the article come drawn from my own work, Pearl Farm. The story is my own that follows a travel troubadour called Vinny along with her pet Ray Hubble while they travel their way across a world called"the Lofty Coastline.
