Five reasons to join our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leaders --

Mar 23, 2022

The version that is TL;DR of this article reads like this:

  • The company has just announced a fresh (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • This opportunity is open to executives at established SaaS and software companies (including founders! ).

We're starting a new free Slack community

Because communities are awesome!

No, seriously.

Yes, there are additional SaaS and software-based communities there. Some of them are excellent.

When we began to think about developing the kind of community that uslike to be a member of, we realized that there was an opportunity to create something completely new.

To that end, we created Global SaaS Leaders as a space with five unique qualities:

1. Global Focus

We discovered a variety of SaaS and software-based communities that were U.S.-based or focused around a specific area.

Global SaaS Leaders will be diverse. could be in the U.S., but our clients and the wider SaaS community is spread out across the globe..

As we develop the community, we'll be intentional about developing a diverse members and an international perspective.

2. Created for the top executives from well-established SaaS and software firms

The most interesting software conversations we found online revolved around starting an entirely new SaaS company:

These conversations are beneficial for those looking to begin building an SaaS.

With that said, we observed that it is very difficult to locate helpful conversations between leaders from well-established software and SaaS companies.

This is why we've decided to establish the community of SaaS entrepreneurs who think about expanding and scaling up an established software company instead of building the minimum viable products or securing seed-stage financing.

If you're a life-long entrepreneur with a self-funded SaaS already doing $10,000 a month, we'd love to connect you with other entrepreneurs similar to your.

The same applies if you're the development lead at a venture-backed startup which just crossed the threshold of $10 million a year.

This is the goal we will pursue on the upcoming Global SaaS Leaders: to provide a forum that you can share your thoughts on the challenges unique to your business after you reach product-market fit and start to expand.

3. Professionally moderated

It is the work of a determined and skilled moderator (or group with moderators!) to build a positive, supportive culture in a community.

We've learned a lot from the Reddit community, r/entrepreneur for instance.

But even quality communities like this one sometimes struggle with concentration. It's interesting that the No. #1 thread of the year an angry post on how the rise of cryptocurrency has dominated the newsfeed:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this article!) will be the first moderators when we start the Global SaaS Leaders community.

Collectively, we've spent over 10 years of managing online communities that have thousands of members.

and the creation and launch of this community is part of our job descriptions.

The conversation will remain focused on SaaS and software -- and we'll ensure that you won't have to deal with unwelcome offers, spam Personal attacks, trolling of any sort.

4. Does not specifically focused on funding or venture capital rounds.

It doesn't matter if you're bootstrapped, venture-funded, private-equity supported, or another ownership structure.

World SaaS Leaders won't be a place with a major focus on funding rounds or exit strategies.

Instead, we hope to provide a space where you can have conversations about revenue, hiring and profit tools and pricing strategies, technological infrastructure and everything that is related to building a successful software business.

It's fine if members occasionally have discussions about financing. But it won't be the the only conversation.

5. The most supportive SaaS and software community anywhere online

Some online communities are unsafe places.

Whatever you're looking for, where you're from, and whatever your experience, we'd like that you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and participating in our forum.

Katie me and Katie will try everything that we can to create a supportive, positive environment in the new community. Also, we'll not stand for the personal attack, bigotry racism, sexism, or any other disrespectful conduct.

Our goal is nothing more than that: to create the most supportive SaaS and software community online.
