Honor History and embrace Progression: International Women's Day 2024
Every year, on March 8, people gather to commemorate International Women's Day (IWD). This is a day to honor the achievements of women, reflect on the challenges they face, and vow for a better future in which women's rights are truly respected. In retrospect, this day was not born in just one day. It's the culmination of years of fighting, endurance and unrelenting dedication. That's why we are celebrating IWD and encourage everyone to be part of the celebration in an enlightening trip through the lengthy and rich background of IWD and a testament that the effectiveness continues to grow from the collective work.
Starting with the planting of Seeds of Change to a world-wide movement
The seeds for IWD were planted at the beginning of the 20th century. This was the time when the struggle for women's rights started to gain momentum. On the 8th of March in 1857, female workers protested in the streets in protest against poor working conditions as well as a absence of women's rights who worked in textiles. The strike called for a lower duration for working as well as an equitable wage for the living. The following year the march on March 8 the march of women who worked in needlework was organized to protest child labor, conditions of work in sweatshops and to insist that women were entitled to vote. Two years later in 1910 the date of March 8th was made a year-round observed as International Women's Day.
Change is a catalyst
In the 20th century, IWD was an influential force for changes. It was a place for women to speak out and voice their opinions on issues such as the right to vote, fair work conditions and pay and the right to education. The year 1975 was the first time IWD became recognized as a right by The United Nations officially recognized IWD that affirmed the importance of IWD.
A Day of Celebration and Action
In the present, IWD is celebrated in various ways, ranging from spectacular marches and intimate celebrations. This is a chance to honor women who excel across all fields, ranging from artists, scientists as well as activists and entrepreneurs. But, IWD isn't just an opportunity to honor women It's also a time to call for actions. It's an opportunity to remind ourselves that the battle for equality between genders is far from ending. It is imperative to continue to fight for equality in opportunities, fight stereotypes of discrimination and support of girls and women everywhere. The central theme of International Women's Day 2024 is " Invest in Women: Accelerating Progress" and the widely popular hashtag "#InvestInWomen..
It is based on The UN Five elements must be pushed forward to promote the hashtag until it's not needed anymore:
