Ever since I was a kid I've loved to draw, paint and use my hands. This has always been the easiest way for me to express my feelings. Growing as a child in Taiwan and in Taiwan, having the art of making was often looked down upon and often advised by parents to take classes in the more practical aspects of art in order to avoid ending being hungry on the streets.

My mom has always encouraged me to pursue anything that I wanted and did anything she could to assist me achieve my objectives. When I returned in the United States and graduating high school, I made the decision that I would like to go after art as profession.

I was accepted to ArtCenter College of design, where I studied Illustration, with the goal of moving into feature animation. Along the way, I came across motion graphics and fell in love with its versatility and all it's amazing art work done by those I admire.

What would you say about the style you prefer?

It's still a long journey to finding a fashion that I'm able to call my personal. I have the tendency to be drawn to trying different things from time to time... One month, I'll be drawn to doing something very vibrant, and then I'll want to try my hand at organic colors. get really into a car style for a few months, one day suddenly I'll become bored and will want to explore a style that's based on lines.

In other instances, I'll blend two different things that are intriguing to me, to make it seem like I'm in the endless journey of discovery and gain knowledge. However, after experimenting a in a few places, I'm noticing the specific designs, colours, or compositions I'm drawn to, perhaps this is the start of an aesthetic?

It's one of the reason why I love working at Oddfellows and sometimes, I can't believe I am fortunate to work with a team of insanely talented people. In the workplace, we are often required to adjust to various styles for each project. nearly every task is completed using different methods as well as I'm getting new knowledge from my coworkers every day.

What's the secret to making your illustrations?

I love to draw drawings of subjects I am curious or interested in and then give my own spin to it.

Most importantly, I love to have enjoyable. It is my opinion that having fun is the most important factor in creating anything, viewers can really tell if a creator had fun performing things... that extra sparkle.

In the midst of the epidemic, and seeing the staff at my studio as well as my friends working hard in helping the world and the community, I felt compelled to start a Patreon called Joy&Frens which gives 50% of the net revenue goes to charity that my patrons choose. There, I post Tips & Tricks, process videos, invite friends for collaborations and share their wisdom.
