There are a few things to note once you've switched Workspaces. The right side of the screen, you'll have easy accessibility to Illustrator's brush swatches, color swatches symbols and strokes -- among numerous different tools. We'll use them later on during this tutorial however, make note of it here.

Most importantly, let's take a look at the main toolbar located on the left side on the left-hand side. It's where you'll discover some of the most important tools to use when designing your logo.

Oh yeah, your brand name. Let's draw it.

 Step 3: Begin Using Shapes

If you look up tips about how to design a logo in Illustrator, you'll find quite complex (and overwhelming) suggestions. For this project we'll make things easy. It's our belief that simple designs could help you develop a standout logo.

See the picture below. You'll see that we're starting with a simple design ,which you can find by clicking the fourth icon from the top that's shaped like an elongated rectangle. Click long-click to view all of the options available, including a rectangular Tool, Ellipse Tool, Polygon Tool, Star Tool and The Line Segment Tool.

Let's try the Rectangle Tool right now. Rectangles aren't super exciting they aren't particularly exciting, however Illustrator can be used to modify them using a range of methods. Take a look at the GIF below to learn how to create a logo using this software.

For this, you must select to use the Direct Selection tool and then drag it across the corners that you want to modify. When you're done, you'll notice an corners radius tool on each corner. Drag them towards the center of the rectangle, which will alter the angle and size of the whole shape.

It's just the beginning of what (we believe) will become a more usable logo. Once we've got an idea of what we can do with it and we're going to add texts, lines as well as other components to create a logo that stands out.

Step 4: Add Lines, Color and Other Objects

For more colors to our shape below, click on the Selection Tool on the right side of the Main Menu. After that, click in the middle of your shape. To add a color, choose one from the Swatches menu. Feeling lost? Be assured that we've have created you a GIF.

Now let's include some lines in order to do this, we'll have to make a layer. For creating a brand new layer, go to the Layersmenu and select to click the + icon. It will place your newly created layer in the top position of the menu, which is the goal we're trying to achieve.

Most logos you see online were built using multiple layers in Illustrator.
A majority of the logos you see online were built by using several layers of Illustrator.

After we've created two layers, simply click the box that is empty next to the icon which resembles an eyeball next to Layer 1. It will secure that layer and help us avoid doing any changes to the layer as we are adding our lines onto Layer 2.

To add a line, choose the Pen Tool in the Primary Menu. You can then hover in the center of the image until you can see "center" appear as small purple text. When you have found the middle of the icon, hold the Shift button and click. To draw a line simply choose an edge of the icon that you'll like to draw towards and then press to draw the line along the edges of the image. When you've drawn your line, press the V key to end. Repeat the process as numerous times that you'd like.

Start by selecting to start, click on the Typing Tool on the Menu Main. Move it around a section of your document to reveal the editor.

Let's now include our message on the icon. Make use of the Selection Tool to move it over the image.

As we've utilized an uncolored background for the majority of our images so we'll make the text transparent. To accomplish this, mark the text in the highlighted area and then go to the Appearance menu. Then, change to change the Stroke as well as the Fill color to white.
