When Pooja Bavishi decided to create her own company to sell ice cream, Malai was a product she launched with an unambiguous view of her own. "I invented Malai as a way to showcase the taste of my food, which I grew up eating as a first-generation Indian American in a popular fashion," she says.

"Everyone is affected by memories of ice cream that they had in their childhood. The majority of these memories have a connection to visiting your favorite ice cream place for a scoop with loved individuals," Pooja says. This reunion of childhood memories brings Malai as a replacement for local and market food halls. It also has freezers in food shops, pop-up food carts across New York City, and the bustling flagship store in Brooklyn offering local and national delivery.
