Minimalist collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog

The other day, I discovered Olga posting stories on Instagram of my childhood neighborhood. Within Warsaw's concrete jungle is a less-known and sacred green area. I often visited it in the summer to stare at beautiful old pine trees and catch a breath of the natural world within my urban airways. In her story, Olga visited this area for the first time but she was also captivated by one of the most beautiful backyards in Warsaw. In the near future, I am sure she'll paint an inspired Boernerowo painting.

We inquired with Olga about her process for creating her minimalist collages and paintings of human-shaped landscapes

"My name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. Since I was a little child, I've always been drawing and painting often. I went to an art high school and studied Painting as well as Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.

I'm a painter, an illustrator occasionally a graphic designer. Through my work, I concentrate on the connection between humans and nature, paying close attention to how we influence our backyards. When I look at hedges that have been trimmed or decorative plants as well as meticulously designed home gardens I'm capturing the eerie beauty of the surroundings around us."

"For several years I have also been creating minimalist collages. These collages were in the form of landscapes and still lifeor created as a result of experiments with shapes, textures as well as colours.

My style is heterogeneous because painting and collages are very different, but they share one thing in common: they soothe. I've heard the term "soothing" often from my fans I believe it best describes the nature of my art. If I am tired of drawing, I do collages and vice versa. The one style serves as an getaway from the different.

I believe that being aware is essential. I pay attention to everything that surrounds me, the environment, architecture and objects. All this is reflected in my work. In my works, you do not see a human , however, we get the feeling of humans in the hedges that are trimmed or in a cup placed at the end of the dining table."
