How did you transfer the concept of architecture into mixed-media images?

"When the moment came to decide on a career I was told, as many others, not to take up a career in the arts. The advice was well-informed and I followed. After completing a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Architecture. I found myself completely bored of the work in behind the computer. In my time off after university, I started to create illustrations, paintings as well as products that had my own designs, and I had never felt happier!

All of it started right before I got a job in an architectural office which I currently manage with my illustration work and recent studies in art history. I hope to get rid of the corporate architecture job in the near future and focus fully on the art I love and using mixed-media techniques.

I'm hoping that my experience will help those who are unsure of what to study to realize that the art degree does not matter, you could be an artist from any background and the best thing is, this will create a unique art. Of course, going to an art school will be an amazing learning experience too!"

What is the style of your illustrations?

"I consider that the process of describing your style is something extremely difficult. I had to ask my acquaintances about this, and how they described it could not be more exact. They said my art looks as if everything I paint appears moving like the wind is blowing across the painting , and then dropping colors all the things it touches. It's impossible to find a better description of it honestly.

I like layering textures and exploring a variety of shades, and I'm a maximalist in that sense. The more difficult I attempt to limit a palette of colors more, the greater the range of colors becomes.

In a glance at some of my subject selections, the things I love to draw are landscapes that feature mountains and oceans as it reminds me of my childhood home in Tenerife which is a small, charming island situated in the Atlantic ocean.

However, I also draw human-like figures with exaggerated features and colorful skin. And of course, I always include an architectural component - those six years of studying architecture will be visible in my work."

What are the most important factors to making your mixed-media illustrations?

"I believe that the key in my art is not planning ahead too much. In reality, this approach can be successful however it is not always successful However, not being too much about the outcome will allow you to explore your art.

I like seeing how I color and painting and changing my mind on my final work. The work reveals my connection to the paper, to my surroundings, as well as to my paint and you will see my process of decision-making to the end result.

I enjoy being able work with my hands to mix up my own colors. The only thing you require to create my work is lots of different substances (doesn't need to be anything extravagant, however I like to mix mediums) and a loose hand, and some courage to mix paints and to start from scratch."
