Like a well-planned program, our brand new course content dripping feature ensures your students receive their lessons in just the right doses, exactly when they need the lessons.
Don't overwhelm students with too much information at once or letting students run away. Dripping lets you present your material in manageable chunks and keep your students interested and excited for what's next.
The new feature will continue to grow with your needs and makes it simpler than ever to structure and manage your course's online content.
What is Course Content Dripping?
We've all had those moments... watching an entire television series in one weekend, staying up all night turning page after page of a novel, or waking up to realize that you've eaten a whole sheet of chocolate chip cookies... entirely by yourself ().
When we indulge in something that is enjoyable, it may be satisfying at first but it can leave us with a feeling of being unfulfilled.
Learning can be the same way. When students take in too much information too quickly It can cause:
- Anxiety: Worrying they missed an important thing or have made mistakes.
- Remorse: Wishing they had spent more time taking the time to comprehend the content.
- Doubt: Questioning if they actually comprehended the information.
- Overwhelm: Feeling overloaded with many things to consider at the same time.
These aren't feelings you want your students to experience following the completion of your course.
This is where course the content drips in!
Instead of distributing all the information to students at once, course content dripping lets you release information at regular intervals. This method allows them to be patient with every class, remain engaged and absorb information better.
What Differences Will Content Dripping Make for Your Class?
1. Learn one step at a time
Instead of giving students access to all material at once, Dripping allows each lesson or module according to a set arrangement, helping them develop their understanding gradually.
This method is designed to help students to feel a sense success and progress as they move through the program.
In other words, think of your class as a literal staircase, where each step represents a new lesson. The students must master the first step before moving onto the next. This ensures they have a solid understanding of the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced ideas.
2. Engage students and keep them Motivated
Students are informed that new content is coming regularly, it builds anticipation and interest. The anticipation helps keep them interested and they're eagerly anticipating the next lesson or module.
They are accustomed to setting aside time for each lesson. This increases the likelihood that they'll remain engaged and focused on the course from start to finish.
3. Provide Content at the Right Time
Course content dripping gives you full control over the timing and method by which your lessons are released and aligns them in your schedule.
It doesn't matter if you're explaining a complex concept that needs a little additional attention or getting ready to tackle a major project that will take longer, content dripping allows users to modify the content of your content to satisfy the needs of both your students and the course goal.
4. Help Everyone Learn at the Same Time
Course content dripping is an effective method of keeping the students moving at a steady rate, ensuring no one advances too quickly or is left in the middle.
When you release content at timed intervals, you create an environment of learning that is cohesive and where everyone progresses together.
In addition, when everyone is studying together, you are able to easily identify and address those areas where students could require extra help, making sure no one is left out in the cold.
5. Make Learning meaningful and manageable
Learning should be something that students can enjoy, not a stressful process. When the entire course is presented at once, it can create unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Dripping course content offers more flexibility for students, through the use of smaller, more manageable pieces.
Instead of feeling pressured to absorb everything in one go Students can absorb knowledge at their own rate, thereby making the process of learning more personal and accessible.
In separating the content and allowing for a few moments of achievement for your students when they master each step. It helps to maintain the students' enthusiasm, and keep their interest in the learning process.
Course dripping is a powerful method to keep students motivated, focused, and on track. It's an easy and efficient method to change how you teach your classes, making learning more enjoyable for all those involved.
NEW Course Content Dripping Built-in Reducing the rules for courses
Setting up course content dripping was once somewhat of a hassle that required several steps and settings. The process was effective however, let's face it this wasn't an efficient method to do the task.
We recognized the need for a efficient solution, and so we've integrated our Rules feature directly into the Courses add-on. Now, setting the drip schedules you want to use is much more simple and intuitive.
Thanks to the built-in drip feature, you can create drip calendars and schedules, without needing to quit the builder for curriculum. This not only saves you time, but it also guarantees that the materials you use for your courses will be protected and released according to plan.
You can also personalize drip messages in the settings. It's simple to inform your students when the next content release is due to become available. This helps maintain expectations and keep everyone at the same level.
By taking care of all the technical details by taking care of the technical details, you're free to focus on what really matters: creating top-notch instructional content.
How to Set Up Course Content Dripping within Courses
If your students are hurrying ahead, consider organizing the content of your class so that it keeps them on pace and fully engaged with the lesson at hand.
As we mentioned a little while ago, Courses utilizes Rules to power content dripping.
This means that any drip options that you apply through Rules could conflict with built-in dripping options in the course settings.
So...
- To provide a simplified and easy experience If you want your courses to automatically distribute content according to an established schedule (like the release of new lessons each week) the new built-in drip feature is the most efficient alternative. It simplifies the process and provides a reliable distribution without the need for additional setup.
- To have more control that is personalized: If you need the freedom to make content available frequently or at highly personalized time intervals, Rules gives you that control. However, this approach requires a bit more time and effort to set up the additional Rules.
Stay Simple: Let's get your Drip Content flowing smoothly!
In order to set up the course Dripping of content, begin by toggling your course's "Enable Dripping" option in your course's configurations.

What's next for courses? What should we say? What's New...
Course Dripping may be the newest and most exciting feature that we've introduced to Courses, but it's certainly not the sole new feature we've added recently.
Before diving into dripping, look over other interesting modifications you may have observed within the plugin.
While we work to improve our tools for online courses, we discovered that the ever-growing list of tools - such as Lessons, Quizzes, Assignments as well as the Gradebook deserve their own dedicated space.
That's why we've given Courses its own menu item within the WordPress dashboard.
Everything that is related to your courses - whether it's making a course new and constructing your own curriculum as well as tweaking the course's settings - can be managed by using the Courses menu on the dashboard.
Making Courses separate from its own menu item helps you ensure that your course development and membership management tasks distinct and efficient, especially for businesses that rely on both.
If you're an existing user and have noticed this slight rearrangement. We hope you're finding the new interface cleaner and more streamlined!
However, if you're new to the world of learning and are eager to begin building your courses You may be asking what to do with all these amazing features.
You just need to open the plugin and navigate to the Add-Ons tab and do a quick search on "course" to filter down the options available, and then are all the learning tools that have grown bigger than the core plugin's capabilities:
Stay tuned for even more enhancements and improvements to come in the near future. For now, you can take advantage of the Dripping of course content feature, and explore the other enhancements we've made to make your course design more enjoyable than ever!
