Historical MRR Changes
Prior to this, we utilized dates of activation as a way to test for cancellation dates prior to removing MRR contributions, which had the unfortunate consequence of changing the historical MRR value. To fix this problem, we've updated our analytical tools to identify cancellations the day of when cancellation takes place and then take away MRR contribution at that time.
Change is a prime example
Let's look at an example of the annual subscription, which was activated in January 2023. The subscription was then cancelled in May 2023, then it was deactivated by the end of December. It is our previous MRR contribution calculation wouldn't have changed until the end of December 2023. It could also alter the MRR contribution over the course from May through December 2023.
In the earlier example, our calculation immediately eliminates the MRR contribution to the account starting with the cancellation date in 2023, which is May. The result is a exact MRR change calculation.
