Selling Coaching and Courses as well as Coaching with Melissa Bolton -
What is the role of branding in helping creators sell smarter and more effectively? After many years of running successful businesses and working with dozens of other companies, Melissa Bolton had a idea: In order to successfully sell, you first need to know who you are and who your customer is. After that, it's an issue of aligning your message to both. It turns out that she was correct, as her extensive network of accomplished clients can confirm. She explains what creators must be aware of when it comes to branding and how she helped her coach and courses to the next level.
At the age of 23, you were generating 7-figure revenue. At 27, you achieved the status of vice-president at an Fortune 500 financial company. You're now a sought-after Brand Therapist - a specialty that you've registered and created your personal. Let us know how your amazing journey began and what the most important lessons you've taken away thus far.
Never have I treated a client like a prospect or viewed them as a potential opportunity. They are real people who have genuine needs, desires and aspirations. The opportunity lies in what you do to help them. This answer feels like it could be longer however, it's really just that simple be kind to people, treat them as you would prefer to be treated. take note, then assist.
Do you have a bit more about the function of a brand psychotherapist as well as your unique archetype-based method?
I've always been interested in the field of psychology and behavioral science However, I've never wanted to become a traditional therapist. When I had time off, I read a lot about psychology principles and behavior patterns particularly in the area of decision-making. I began applying these ideas to my branding work and the results were nothing short of magical. Since I believe in the individualism of each person, I am keen on creating titles to represent your professional identity. 'Brand Therapist' seemed perfect.
I designed the archetype brand course in the year 2010. The time was when there was no such course available. Archetypes were being used to promote brands, but the course wasn't yet in existence. The idea is to take the scientifically proven principles and apply them to purchasing behavior. It is possible to doubt the behavior, but patterns are hard to ignore. Archetypes illustrate patterns of behavior and make it easy to cater your words as well as your style offerings to those who need these most.
As you consulted it was clear that many entrepreneurs and creators were unsuccessful because they didn't pay attention to branding, and instead focused on marketing. What are some easy actions creators could take to develop an authentic brand image?
It's not possible to effectively market something if don't know who you are, what it is you're selling, who your ideal customers are, or the product you're really selling. What I mean is that, in reality, we're not selling anything or any service. The only thing we're selling is solutions. selling people a better version of them. Understanding and being able to articulate the essence of your company's brand and reflect it throughout all you do is vital to the longevity of every brand.
Your website provides a variety of helpful, no-cost instruments to your potential clients which includes your no-cost Brand archetype questionnaire and report. How have these sources have had on your company and what should creatives do to incorporate freebies into their marketing efforts?
The free quiz has had an enormous impact. I have spent a lot of time learning not only the right questions however, but also how for the most accurate responses. A million people took the test throughout the years. It's still awe-inspiring for me. But it's highly insightful and deep. I can understand the appeal. I'm happy to see it has been useful to so many. It's helped me grow my mailing list and expand options to meet the needs of my clients also.
You can create the freebies you want to distribute that match your own style. As an Luminary (archetype) educator I enjoy studying and sharing my knowledge. For me, a game is a good idea. If you're like me, the freebie might look like something else. It may be a template of a white or black document, an ebook or some other downloadable content. Make sure that you receive some kind of reward, with the most popular being the email address. They can always unsubscribe if the content doesn't suit them.
With a few years of experience as a consultant What suggestions would you provide to creators that are thinking of offering the services of coaching?
Oh I have lots of advice on this one:
- Don't give your time away for free. Free consultations are a good way to find out if you're the right suitable candidate, but be sure you don't divulge to much. You should have some questions you want to ask before you make the phone appointment. Try to stick to the allotted time. Make them curious and want to know more.
- Establish boundaries and stick to the rules. Everyone will try to take advantage of you. If someone is looking for or wants more then they will pay for your time. If not, they aren't a good steward of your time, so you need to go on with your life. Simple as that.
- I'm focused on working with your ideal clients. Use your intuition. If you feel a potential client isn't a good fit from the very first moment you meet with them, they most likely aren't. Do not ever attempt to justify your prices or try to convince people to join your team. The right people are happy to collaborate with you , and eager to trade their cash for your time.
When it comes to branding, what part should social media be playing and what types of content have been the most effective for you as a creative?
Social media is more a part of marketing rather than a way to build brand. Personally, I prefer Pinterest over the other social media platforms. There's less chatter and greater focus. The people take time to organize and curate. It's highly intentional. I love that. Additionally, I am able to look up what others are saving. These are distinct features in comparison to Facebook as well as Instagram. I recommend going to a platform where you have the largest following, looking at the statistics of your site's visitors to determine the source of your traffic from and spending your time and effort on the places you have those.
Which of the tools has been the most useful in creating and marketing your services?
One of the most useful sources is actually a function, not a tool.
Reviews are very helpful for selling. Social proof is extremely valuable: People want to know the risks involved when they invest in an item. Hearing authentic feedback from someone else then the seller (the buyer) is quite impressive.
Additionally, I utilize coupon codes all the time to satisfy various needs. The possibility of customizing codes has been fantastic. My customers love whenever I create customized codes using their names or business name. It's fun, plus it adds a touch of professionalism to it.
I can't get enough of's 'Courses' feature more. It's one of my top online tools that makes it easy to design and create courses. I've not even made use of all the features yet such as quizzes and video and can't wait to get them. My courses were launched in the past month, and am already surrounded by satisfied students.
What have you done to help advertise and sell your product on the internet?
I sold digital downloads regularly on my site prior to the GDPR came into force. As a company based in the United States, I found it frustrating and confusing and tiring to attempt to work through the newly adopted tax law which is why I stopped selling downloads completely. Then I found and saw they dealt with all matters tax-related for myself. I was immediately enthralled. This has helped me sell thousands of dollars of digital products without losing a wink of sleep over VAT issues.
Also, the name is growing in its popularity and notoriety. Because the name is a source of confidencein buyers, they know they are able to buy with confidence.
