Space and movement in illustrations - The CreativeMindClass Blog
From the time I was a kid I've loved to draw, paint, and play with my hands. It has been the easiest way for me to express myself. Growing as a child in Taiwan and in Taiwan, having an artistic profession was thought of as a negative thing as a way to make money, and I was frequently told by adults to study the more practical aspects of art, or else I'll end in the streets starving to death.
Fortunately, my Mom has always encouraged my pursuit of anything I desired and has done everything in her power to help to achieve my objectives. When I returned in America, United States and graduating high school, I decided that I would like to go after art as a career.

I was accepted into ArtCenter College of design, where I studied Illustration, with the goal of moving to the field of feature animation. Along the way, I came across motion graphics and fell in love with its versatility , as well as the amazing work that is done by those I admire.

What would you say about your style?
It's still a long journey to finding a fashion that I'm able to identify as my personal. I have the tendency to be drawn to trying various new styles every now and then... A month I'll want to do very colorful things, soon I'll be tempted to try my hand at the more natural-looking colors. I'll be really into a shape car style for a few months but then one day I'll be tired of it and will want to explore something that's more inspired by the lines.

In other instances, I'll blend two different things that seem fascinating to me as if I'm on the endless journey of discovery and gain knowledge. After fumbling a bit here and there I'm starting to realize there are some designs, colours, or compositions I'm attracted to. Maybe this is the start of a style?

That's a big reasons why I am so happy being at Oddfellows and sometimes, I can't believe I am fortunate to work with an incredible group of people. We are required to adjust to various styles from project to project, virtually every project has to be completed in different styles, and I'm constantly learning new things from my coworkers every day.

What is the key to drawing your artwork?
I love to draw illustrations on subjects that I am curious or interested in, then try to add my own twist to it.
But most importantly I like to have enjoyable. Fun is the most important factor in creating anything that viewers are able to see that a creator was having enjoyment performing something... it adds sparkle.

While fighting the pandemic, watching our studio and my peers trying their best to give back to the local community, I was inspired to create a Patreon named Joy&Frens, where 50% of the net earnings go to the charities that my patrons choose. Here, I provide Tips & Tricks, process videos, invite friends for collaborations and offer their expertise.
My work can also be seen my work on Instagram and my website.
