May 4, 2022

The first Staff Pick premiere will feature Seyed Payam Hosseini's "The Kites," an emotional tale told through the eyes of a boy in his early years that takes place on the devastated border that separates Iran from Iraq.

The conversation that begins with a simple call and response that's far A small boy must figure out the best way to deal with a ball that a little girl has thrown at him ends up on the opposite side of a mine-laden divide. There's a gap that needs to consider but in a literal sense crossing-border languages create a new hurdle. With the assistance of his friends and a parent the boy begins the journey to bring the kite back in one piece.

In a variety of ways the story can be interpreted as a symbol of radical imagination: caring for each and the creativity in solving problems and the determination to find a way to overcome what is lost. Through "The Kites" Hosseini manages to image the film as an active light of hope within the context of an uncertain historical.

We spoke with Seyed to discuss his motivation for making the film, challenges, and casting. Seyed's response is written in prose as follows:

 Inspiring:

"We live in a timeline of geographical location

HTML1 Kurdistan is a state that is split into four distinct areas

We are located in the Kurdish region in Iran

Border is not that is brand new to us.

And this is what appeared to be love, peace, and friendship

From the point of view of children's of view

Connect the borders

For me, the tree is a sign of strength, a sign of strength

The kite for me is a symbol of the freedom to fly around the world.

This was very helpful in the creation of "'The Kites. '"

On challenges:

"Making animation shorts isn't complicated at all

When a filmmaker wants to produce an unofficial film

The world gets more complicated

The design of a credible border was the most important challenge facing the HTML0 project

This is the place I've spent time looking for over a long period of time

Thank goodness, I found this site located in a border city that is far away, but only a just a few miles far from Iraqi Kurdistan

The pleasure of filmmaking takes away any difficulties and problems. "

On casting:

"Choosing the right actors can be extremely crucial and is a challenge for me.

And I always use people who are amateurs to play my characters.

The individuals I ask to act have no knowledge of cinema and the process of filmmaking.

It was crucial for the kites that the young actors were credible.

Take their geographical location and the story

This is why I was searching for children in the countryside to select from

until I found kids like this in lower areas of city (slum)

After a few tests, their IQ convinced me I had chosen the correct option.

I've read scripts with multiple times, but I read them only to get a sense of the plot the documentary

It's a good thing that I am very satisfied by the product of the film made by four children's characters. "

The advice he gives to budding film makers:

" As a young filmmaker

In addition to educational purposes, HTML0 is a condition that demands filmmaking

Movies, read and write about specialized books, novels

An assortment of short stories written in short format

And making low-budget independent short films

It will provide prerequisites that will allow us to start filmmaking for those who want to be carnal.

Learn how to create independent film

Read, write and then observe. "

What's next?

"After 'The Kites'

I made two short films.

Russian vodka film which features a gender-neutral theme suitable for young children

HTML0A short non-mahram film (funded by 1000 women) This film is about the violence women face.

My next endeavor will focus on the massacre of Kurds in Iraqi Kurdistan by Saddam Hussein named "Beyond The Hills" which is on the verge of being creating. "
