"I come from a company which has a structure of business that is dependent on community growth as it's open source software," he begins. So, he wanted to build a secure Discord community with gated access to the content of WordPress as that's the place the first media project, virtualization.info was hosted, it would let him "recycle 20 years of experience".

He chose to go with WordPress not based on his experiences, however, but because of the versatility offered by the software. "There exists a rationale the reason that 43 percent of all websites on the planet use WordPress," he adds. The maturation of the plugin industry implies that the result you can achieve using WordPress is amazing, and it can be achieved in less than a quarter of the time you would get with other solutions."

Do not compromise: the value of branding

Alessandro states: "Many newsletter and blogging platforms don't offer a lot of choices in the creation of the image of the company. They bring together the appearance and feel of the site, so everyone is exactly identical. The theme can be customized the theme slightly, and you can add your logo, but they are only minor modifications.

"Every blog or newsletter appears the same. This isn't working for me. As I mentioned on social media, don't abandon the approach you believe is most effective. Make sure you do your best job you can do just to check an item off. Doing things that compromise your work is one of the mistakes that can cause you to be in trouble several times over."

"I developed a brand users have been talking about for 20 years and are still writing to me to discuss. I must have complete liberty and freedom to design each and every surface on this site to ensure it is in line with my image. I'm looking to build my brand and not any other brand of publishing."

Becoming valuable: niche and voice

"Two factors are crucial when you are creating your own web-based publication" Alessandro continues. "The primary step is to identify the right niche. This can be stated easily, but difficult to achieve!" He laughs.

He says that there's not anything wrong with having someone with a different perspective covering similar topics as people with the same perspective. "You could cover similar issues, but it could be related to cooking, politics or crochet, squash, or anything else you want however, you have to think about the world from a completely different angle. And that defines your niche how you approach things is different."

He explains the idea of Synthetic Work, which is looking at AI in a non technical angle of view and its impact on the industry, the economy, and jobs as well as society. "If you think about cooking, for example you could find yourself in a niche where your perspective is about its science that isn't often considered - for instance, how on the most basic degree of chemical, what can make food tasty.

The second method is to discover your own voice. "Human animals learn by imitation, the same way that we think, "Wow I love the manner in which the writer writes' then you attempt to mimic the way they write amazing and the best method to gain all the knowledge you possibly can. Then you have to get to a point where you have your own voice, which can be terrifying!"

It's difficult to comprehend that there are people who don't like your way of looking at the world, or write about it, but it's the only way to stand out from others. "If you've got the same style or similar approach to everyone other people, you'll disappear rapidly."

The writer continues: "People don't read for informational content. This may sound counterintuitive, but people are drawn to reading because they believe in you: they're interested in your character, which is reflected in what you communicate." He suggests that people make sure that their individual style of communication is reflected through the tone they employ when discussing their subject matter.

Alessandro mentions that he's witnessed this happening for over 20 years, and is still witnessing this happening on a daily on a regular basis. In one instance, I recently read a manual for students who are considering the possibility of doing the PhD which was written by one of the cofounders who founded OpenAI. It is not related to artificial intelligence, but it's an old post which was composed by him some time ago. In this post it is recommended to attend conferences. The writer suggests not looking just at the agenda and more on the presenters. It is important to look for speakers who you admire and have met or have heard of who have great talks, even if their presentation does not match your own research."

Alessandro claims that this is a great example of the point he is making: get people interested about what you are doing and the way in which you present things. And what you say about could be a side thing. "Even in the event that they will not be with you but they'll want to hear what that you have to say since they've come to appreciate you and feel that they have a valuable contribution to their lives."
