About the fiber artist, Amanda Adams

I'm a fiber artist and illustrator based in Baltimore. I relocated to Baltimore to go to Maryland Institute College of Art. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and that's where Nicole Mueller and I met and made friends. We also began Beyond the Studio. Beyond the Studio podcast together. Over the last nine years I've built up my small art business close Call Studio where I work full time.

What would you say about the style you prefer?

My art style, whether it's sewing, drawing or drawing is not self-conscious, intended to entertain and inspire others. My style can be moody or direct and some of my art can appear introspective, yet there's always an element of humor and a sense of play.

What are the keys to making your art?

The process varies from season to the season, but having the mindset of "no stress" in the studio is fundamental for me in the present. I've been a huge deal of pressure on myself that didn't show positively on my work or life so creating space for rest and gardening is just as important for my work when I sit down to draw.
