The Power & Potential of Mobile Learning -

Dec 2, 2022

When it first started learning, there was a bit of confusion, but today it's an industry all its own that is characterized by clear technology and an instruction design methodologies.

There is no way to change it as we've learned.

With over 50percent of United States accessing the internet via a mobile device in 2015, it's essential that learning technology is able to play "nice" with mobile formats.

Also, don't ignore mobile learning and you'll be at risk!

The ELearning Guild, a leading professional organization in the field of elearning has unveiled the whitepaper which discusses the increasing opportunities and the impact of the mobile learning industry.

The brief report (roughly 27 pages in length) offers a case study for mobile learning in today's digital age of education.

Particularly interesting to me was the part that dealt with "business impact".

This battle is fought but it's no longer as challenging as it once was given the breadth of studies, facts and numbers available showing positive effects of e-learning for an organisation.

Still, I foresee a similar challenge with mobile learning.

The business impact section of this whitepaper recognizes this challenge on page 15:

It is tough to demonstrate the exact returns on investment (ROI) for tools to learn and courses. However, since mobile technology puts learning and performance support within the workflow and is constantly with the student constantly It is easier to gather pertinent data.

This report is basically saying that we should be prepared for opposition to projects for mobile learning as we've observed in the traditional elearning area.

This is the negative news.

But the best part is that we know this issue is attainable given the results we've seen in e-learning. This will require the time and effort, but we'll make it happen.

The whitepaper is short and fascinating study. If you're at all curious about the mobile learning experience, then this whitepaper is worth a look.
